Joan Howe
Joan Howe has over 20 years of accounting experience directly
in the field of property management and has been with Westcal
since 1988.
After graduating from California State University in Business/Finance, Joan began her property management accounting experience with Lincoln Property Company. She was solely responsible for the payable and receivable function while coordinating with the corporate offices in Dallas and Reno.
In 1983 Joan joined Colliers/Huntington and over a 3 year period of extreme growth she automated the accounting functions, tripled her staff and managed the accounting needs of over 50 properties in retail, commercial and multi-family. She took over the lease management responsibilities of the commercial portfolio and was in the unique position of coordinating the communications between the property management staff and the accounting department during the rapid growth.
Joan was one of the initial employees of Westcal Management in 1987, and was hired because of her ability to organize and streamline accounting functions. At Westcal Joan selected the AMSI (GEAC) property management system and trained the accounting staff to accommodate the increasing portfolio. While Joan appreciated the system's built-in controls, she focuses the staff's attention on achieving personal responsibility for their work, handling a client's important records as if they were their own.
